1. What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file a website may save on your device when you visit. “Similar technologies” include localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB and pixel trackers, all of which can store or read information from your device.
Some cookies are strictly necessary for a site to work (e.g. session, security, load-balancing). Others are used for analytics, advertising or personalisation and require your consent in the EU. We only use the strictly-necessary kind.
2. What we use
- localStorage key “veridose.locale” — stores “en” or “ro” to remember which language you chose. Persists across sessions until you clear site data. Functional. No consent required.
- Netlify edge cookies (set by our hosting provider on requests) may include short-lived session identifiers for load balancing and DDoS protection. Strictly necessary. No consent required.
3. Third-party content that can set cookies
One element on the site is loaded from a third party — the explainer video on the home page, which is embedded from youtube-nocookie.com. This domain is YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and does not set cookies for the embedded player itself.
If you click play, YouTube may then set cookies to deliver the video, count views, and remember playback preferences. Those cookies are governed by YouTube's Privacy Policy. If you do not want this, do not press play.
4. What we do not use
- Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom or any other analytics product.
- Meta / Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, LinkedIn Insight or any advertising trackers.
- Heatmap, session-replay or recording tools (Hotjar, FullStory, etc.).
- Fingerprinting libraries.
If we ever introduce any of the above, we will update this page and ask for your consent through an in-page banner before they fire.
5. How to control cookies
Because we do not use consent-requiring cookies, there is no in-site cookie banner to interact with. You can still:
- Clear the localStorage entry through your browser's developer tools or site-data settings.
- Block third-party cookies entirely from your browser preferences (this prevents YouTube cookies if you decide to play the explainer).
- Use private / incognito mode for a session that leaves no persistent storage.
